RONIN SOHO MUSEUM

Layout: One can visit big impersonal museums where they can see objects behind glass walls. But Soho believes that Buddhist and Samurai objects were not supposed to be placed on a wall but used to promote enlightenment. Further, in Japanese custom there is a belief that there is actual spirit inside objects and antiquities used by great saints and samurai. Therefore, the Samurai Buddhist Museum takes the opposite approach. Its designed like a traditional Japanese Samurai's house -- and its in the hills of Kamakura surrounded by foliage and woods per the descriptions in the Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra and Lotus Sutra that state that meditating in such conditions are optimum for enlightenment. This also mirrors great Samurai like Miyamoto Musashi who wrote Book of 5 Rings inside a cave while meditating. Hence, a visit to the Samurai Buddhist Museum is meant to be a life-changing spiritual experience, not just another tourist attraction. The opportunity to pray and meditate before the sacred relics of Buddha as well as handwritten scrolls by saints like Shinran, Nichiren, Xuanzhang, Takusan Soho is a lifetime changing expriencie. Similarly, bowing before the actual objects of Takeda Shingen and the Tokugawa Shogunate is a powerful experience that cannot be duolicated elsewhere and can change one's life.

A real Life-changing experience inspired by Musashi & the iconic Lotus Sutra & Vimalakirti Sutra

Vimalakirti was a lay Buddhist who lived in a small house and defeated all other Buddhists in debate.
